All
about blood
Safer blood is a term which indicates 3 things
- Blood which does not transmit disease
- Blood which will not cause any adverse reactions
- Blood which will serve the purpose for which
it is transfused
We employ these tests for complete screening:
- Hepatitis B (HBsAg)
- HIV I & II Antibody Testing
- HCV Antibody
- Malaria
- Syphilis
We minimise transfusion reactions bydoing careful serology workups
which always include:
- Forward & Reverse grouping
- Coombs antibody screen
- Direct Coombs
- Enhanced Coombs cross-match
- Application of Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP).
- Making special blood components available for patients with
special needs
- Optimising each blood component yield and standardising so
that physicians can rely on the
effects of transfusion.
- Total quality management to ensure sterility, viability, quantity,
safety and quality.
NBTS services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We
provide the same quality of service at all times and to every needy
patient.
*The basic standard achieved at present is that specified in the
AABB " Standards..." 17th edition
